VISA All participants will require a valid passport and entry visa for Turkey. Please consult your travel agency or the nearest Turkish Embassy / Consulate for visa requirements. Please visit www.mfa.gov.tr for information.
IUPAC STATEMENT IUPAC sponsorship implies that entry visas will be granted to all bona fide chemists, provided that an application is made at least three months in advance. If a visa is not granted one month before the meeting, the IUPAC Secretariat should be notified without delay by the Applicant.
INVITATION LETTER Upon request to the National Organizing Committee, an official invitation letter will be sent to those needing it to obtain visas, permission to attend the conference and application for personal grants.
TRAVEL Turkish Airlines (THY) (www.thy.com ) has been designated the official carrier of the conference. Turkish airlines will offer special fares for conference participants. Participants are requested to contact their nearest Turkish Airlines Office for advice and assistance on their reservation, itinerary planning and ticketing. Participants and accompanying persons will benefit from a favourable conference fare (BB057) on THY flights as % 10 discount on the published fare between August 31 and September 23 (10 days before and 10 days after the conference). Antalya is easily accessible by all major airlines and several discount airlines as well.
TRANSPORTATION
The trip from the airport to the hotels around 30 minutes. Transfer from the airport to the hotels will be provided to all registered participants and accompanying persons by the official tour agent “Agne Tours” by using the Tour Form. Taxi services between Antalya airport and the hotels are available. Payment should be made in Turkish currency according to the amount appearing on the official taximeter. Additional transfers will be provided by Agne Tours for the benefit of participants and accompanying persons throughout the conference.
CURRENCY and CREDIT CARDS
The local currency unit is New Turkish Lira (YTL). The exchange rate changes daily. Foreign currencies can be exchanged at the airport, banks, exchange shops and hotels. International credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, American Express) are accepted in major hotels, restaurants and shops. All leading banks in Antalya accept traveler’s cheques. Personal or company cheques will not be accepted. Business hours are Monday – Friday 9.00-17.00. The US dolar will be accepted at the registration desk for late registration and daily registrations as well as tours.
ELECTRICITY
General household electric power is 220V, 50 Hz. Two round-pin plugs are standard. A standard voltage converter and plug adapter should be sufficient for conversions.
CLIMATE
September is pleasant in Antalya. Antalya’s climate is mild (average daytime temperature 24ºC, night 16ºC). The weather is usually sunny, nevertheless, it is recommended to bring light sweater. (www.agne.com.tr )

Grenwich Mean Time (GMT) plus 2 hours.
ON-SITE CHECK-IN PROCEDURES
Each participant must check-in personally at the appropriate registration desk to pick up a badge and conference bag before attending any scientific sessions and social events.
Please wear your badge at all times. It will identify you to the hotel security, your fellow delegates and assist the tour travel staff in recognizing you easily.
The regisration desk will be located nearby the conference rooms and be opened during September 9-13, 2006.
CORRESPONDENCE
A message desk will be available for incoming and outgoing mails, fax messages and e-mail at the registration area during the conference. Pay phones are also available at te hotels.
OPTIONAL TOURS
The official tour agent desk “Agne Tours” (http://www.agne.com.tr) will be located nearby the conference rooms and serves as your information resource center for all optional tours. On-site registration for activities will be possible.
INSURANCE
The National Organizing Committee assumes no liability for participants’ personal accidents, sickness, theft or property damage. Participants are requested to make their own arrangements with respect to health and travel insurance.
